Question:

Hi, I have a simple question. What are the symptoms of a pregnant fish? I have Oranda Gold fish.

angel

Answer:

Great question. It's hard to tell if a fish is pregnant because they are sometimes made so fat by the breeders, and by your loving care!
You should know that the Goldfish spawns eggs. She doesn't have babies.
Also, she spawns the ggs in the Spring on the average. Sometimes you may see a Fall spawn but don't hold your breath.

The female goldfish simply looks "fatter" than usual. And to cap it off and cinch the diagnosis, she will be chased by the boys in the tank. It's just the way it is...
So, if you have a fat fish in Spring being "run" by the other fish, chances are she's a female pregnant.

If you don't have other fish, that could be a problem because she may not spawn the eggs and they could cause a problem.
